Patricia Pereira-Pujol

Patricia has been the Science & Engineering Librarian at Florida International University’s Green Library since 1999, and currently holds the rank of Associate University Librarian. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she graduated high school on the island and left for the first time to attend college. After completing two years of computer science and engineering courses, Patricia changed majors and earned a B.S. in Political Science with concentrations in Latin American and Women’s Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She lived in the Boston/Cambridge area until 1991 when she moved to Miami. While in Boston, she worked as an information specialist at the Information Center for Individuals with Disabilities. Before starting in her position at FIU, Patricia worked at the Medical Center Campus of Miami-Dade Community College, first as Coordinator of Disabled Student Services and later as Title III Academic Advisor/Mentor Specialist. During this time, she completed her MLS from the University of South Florida. Patricia lives in Cutler Bay with her wife (Chelala), mother (Irma), two cats (Alejandra and Andrea) and a dog (Augusto). She enjoys hanging out at home, reading, movies and TV series, music, the ocean, sports, messing around with her Mac devices, spicy food, and most of all, having fun and laughing. |
