ATHANASIA FITOS
Past President
Athanasia (Athy) Fitos currently serves as the past president for the Dade County Library Association. Athy works for the Miami-Dade Public Library System as a branch manager for the Allapattah Branch Library and moonlights as a part-time instructional and reference librarian at Miami-Dade College's Kendall Campus. Prior to joining the public library system in 2015, she was the music librarian for the New World School of the Arts housed at the Wolfson Campus of MDC. Athy has a diverse background in libraries, having worked at academic, special collections, school and now public institutions. She graduated with an MA in LIS in 2012 and holds undergraduate degrees in Spanish and International Studies all from the University of South Florida (GO BULLS!). Athy is engaged in library professional acting as a member of committees and task forces for the Florida Library Association, Public Library Association, the ALA New Member's Round Table. She enjoys outreach and programming, always looking for opportunities to unify her roles in the library community with the work at hand. |
